A2X and Link My Books integration
Marketplace payouts from Amazon or Shopify get split into sales, fees, refunds and reserves through A2X or Link My Books, connected into Xero or QuickBooks Online. Hong Kong sellers trading regionally get the underlying detail behind each settlement instead of one lump HKD deposit.

Why a lump-sum payout does not work here either
A marketplace payout landing as a single deposit hides sales, fees, refunds and reserves inside one number, whichever currency it lands in. That is true for a Hong Kong-based seller on Amazon or Shopify just as it is anywhere else, and it gets harder to unpick once a settlement crosses currencies, which is common for sellers based here selling into the US, UK or mainland China markets.
What gets set up
A2X or Link My Books connects to the relevant marketplace and to Xero or QuickBooks Online. The chart of accounts is mapped for gross sales, marketplace fees, shipping, refunds and reserves, and historical settlements are imported and reconciled to marketplace statements rather than assumed to match.
Currency and settlement timing
Many Hong Kong sellers settle in USD or another foreign currency even though their books run in HKD. Settlements are recorded in the currency they were paid, with the HKD equivalent carried through for reporting, and the timing gap between a sale and its eventual payout is tracked so revenue does not get recognised twice or missed entirely.
Feeding the annual audit
Because every Hong Kong company faces a statutory audit with no small-company exemption, marketplace sales that reconcile cleanly to settlement statements all year make the revenue-recognition testing your CPA performs considerably more straightforward than reconstructing it from bank deposits alone.
Ongoing reconciliation
Once connected, payouts are reconciled monthly against the summarised entries A2X or Link My Books produces, and any discrepancy between a marketplace statement and what landed in the bank is investigated rather than left as an unexplained variance.
Questions
Frequently asked questions: A2X and Link My Books integration
Which marketplaces does A2X support for a Hong Kong seller?
Amazon, Shopify, Etsy, eBay and Walmart are the ones we connect most often. Check current coverage against your specific channel before we start, since coverage can change.
Our settlements arrive in USD but our books run in HKD. Does that cause a problem?
No. Settlements are recorded in the currency paid, with the HKD equivalent carried through for reporting, and exchange differences post to their own line rather than getting absorbed into revenue.
Will properly split marketplace payouts help at our annual audit?
They typically do. Revenue that reconciles cleanly to settlement statements all year gives your Hong Kong CPA a clearer basis for testing revenue recognition than reconstructing it from bank deposits alone.
Can you set this up if we sell on more than one marketplace?
Yes. Each marketplace connects separately through A2X or Link My Books, and the chart of accounts is mapped so sales, fees and refunds stay distinguishable by channel.
What happens to marketplace payouts already recorded before A2X or Link My Books is connected?
Historical payouts stay as originally recorded unless you ask for them to be corrected, and the new integration takes over from the connection date forward so past reporting is not disrupted partway through your year.
Why can't I just record the marketplace payout as one deposit?
A single deposit hides sales, fees, refunds and reserves inside one number, which understates revenue and overstates or understates expenses depending on the period.

What if our records for a2X and Link My Books integration are not up to date?
If your records are behind, we scope a catch-up first so a2X and Link My Books integration starts from a clean, reconciled base. That catch-up is priced and timed separately from the ongoing engagement, so you always know what each part costs.
Who reviews the work before it reaches us?
