A2X and Link My Books integration
Finbryn connects Amazon, Etsy and other EU marketplace settlements into Xero or QuickBooks Online through A2X or Link My Books, splitting one lump payout into sales, marketplace fees, refunds and reserves. Chart of accounts and VAT settings are mapped so collected VAT posts separately from revenue across the member states a seller trades in.

Why a marketplace deposit hides more in the EU than elsewhere
An Amazon or Etsy payout landing as one number is a problem everywhere, but inside the EU it also hides which member state's VAT rate applied to which sale. A seller shipping into Germany, France and Poland from one Amazon account collects VAT at three different rates, and a single lump deposit erases that split completely, long before anyone gets to the question of an OSS return.
What we connect and configure
- A2X or Link My Books connected to the EU marketplace accounts a seller trades through
- Chart of accounts mapped for sales, marketplace fees, shipping, refunds and reserves, kept separate from VAT collected
- Historical settlements imported and reconciled to marketplace statements rather than accepted at face value
- VAT settings reviewed against the rates charged in each member state a seller ships to, so collected VAT posts separately from revenue
- Ongoing monthly reconciliation of each payout against the summarised entries A2X produces
Where OSS and IOSS fit
The EU's One Stop Shop lets a seller register in a single member state to declare VAT on qualifying cross-border sales to consumers across the rest of the EU, cutting the registration burden sellers otherwise face country by country. The Import One Stop Shop does the same for goods imported from outside the EU in consignments valued at EUR 150 or less. Below EUR 10,000 in aggregate annual cross-border B2C sales, VAT can stay due in the seller's home member state instead. We set up A2X and the chart of accounts to reflect whichever of these applies to a seller's actual sales pattern.
Preparation, not filing
Configuring A2X and mapping VAT settings correctly is preparation work that makes an OSS or IOSS return easier to check. Filing that return sits with the seller's own registration or a credentialed local partner, not with Finbryn.
Questions
Frequently asked questions: A2X and Link My Books integration
Why does an Amazon or Etsy payout hide more inside the EU than elsewhere?
A seller shipping into several member states from one marketplace account collects VAT at each country's own rate. A single lump deposit erases that split, which is exactly the detail an OSS return needs back.
What is the EU-wide threshold for the One Stop Shop scheme?
EUR 10,000 in aggregate cross-border B2C sales per calendar year. Below it, VAT can stay due in the seller's home member state; above it, the OSS lets a seller register once instead of country by country.
Does the Import One Stop Shop apply to us?
IOSS simplifies VAT collection at the point of sale for goods imported from outside the EU in consignments valued at EUR 150 or less. We can set up A2X to reflect it if that matches your sales pattern.
Do you file the OSS or IOSS return for us?
No. We configure A2X and the chart of accounts so the numbers are ready. Filing sits with your own registration or a credentialed local partner.
Can A2X or Link My Books handle a return or chargeback from a marketplace?
Yes, both tools reconcile returns and chargebacks back against the original sale, so a refunded order is not left sitting as unexplained revenue in your ledger once the marketplace settles it. We confirm the reconciliation is clean before closing out that period's marketplace activity.
Why can't I just record the marketplace payout as one deposit?
A single deposit hides sales, fees, refunds and reserves inside one number, which understates revenue and overstates or understates expenses depending on the period.
Which marketplaces does A2X support?
Amazon, Shopify, Etsy, eBay and Walmart are the ones we connect most often; check current coverage against your specific channel before we start.
What if our records for a2X and Link My Books integration are not up to date?
If your records are behind, we scope a catch-up first so a2X and Link My Books integration starts from a clean, reconciled base. That catch-up is priced and timed separately from the ongoing engagement, so you always know what each part costs.
Who reviews the work before it reaches us?
Every deliverable under a2X and Link My Books integration is reviewed by a senior principal before it reaches you. You keep access to the underlying file at every stage, so nothing about the work happens somewhere you cannot see it.
