Tax prep support
T1 personal tax preparation support
Preparation support for T1 personal income tax returns, including sole proprietors and partners who report business income on their personal return. We build the workpapers from your reconciled books; a Canada-resident EFILE registrant reviews and files the return, since CRA restricts EFILE transmission to residents holding a valid SIN.

What this covers
Workpapers and a draft T1 return for individuals, including self-employed sole proprietors and partners who report business income on their personal return. We organize income, deductions and credits against your books, calculate instalment amounts for the year ahead, and prepare a plain-English memo explaining the result before anyone signs anything.
Deadlines we track
For a calendar year self-employed individual, the T1 filing deadline is June 15 each year, but any balance owing is still due by April 30, so filing late does not buy extra time to pay. If your income requires quarterly instalments, CRA collects them on March 15, June 15, September 15 and December 15.
Who files it
CRA's EFILE program only accepts transmissions from a Canadian-resident registrant holding a valid SIN, so we never transmit your T1 ourselves. We prepare the return, you review the summary memo, and your appointed Canada-resident adviser or EFILE registrant handles the review, signature and transmission.
Built from your bookkeeping
If your business income already runs through books we reconcile monthly, your T1 workpapers start from a trial balance that already ties out, not from receipts sorted in April. Sole proprietors and single-owner businesses see the biggest time saving here, since business and personal income sit on the same return.
What you get
A draft return with supporting schedules, instalment calculations for the coming year, and a short memo on what changed from last year and why, delivered ahead of the June 15 deadline with enough runway to reach your adviser before the April 30 payment date.
Questions
Frequently asked questions: T1 personal tax preparation support
I'm a sole proprietor, does my business income go on this return?
Yes. Sole proprietors and partners typically report business income on their T1, and we build the supporting schedules from the same books we reconcile each month.
Why is the payment deadline earlier than the filing deadline?
CRA sets the self-employed T1 filing deadline at June 15, but any balance owing for the prior year is due April 30 regardless. We flag both dates so nothing gets missed.
Can your team file my return for me?
No. EFILE transmission requires a Canadian-resident registrant with a valid SIN, so we prepare the return and your appointed Canada-resident adviser files it.
What exactly is included in t1 personal tax preparation support?
Employment, self-employment and rental income workpapers, and rRSP and other deduction summary. This work runs inside QuickBooks Online or Xero, whichever your business already has in place, and it rolls into your regular monthly close rather than sitting off to the side as a separate, unreconciled process.
What happens to our t1 personal tax preparation support records if we switch providers?
Everything stays inside your own QuickBooks Online or Xero account, so the full history transfers with the subscription, not with Finbryn. You can hand t1 personal tax preparation support to another provider or bring it in-house at any point without losing a reconciliation or having to rebuild the file first.
Do you handle self-employed and rental income?
Yes, we build the T2125 or rental statement workpapers from your books before the return is drafted.
Who transmits the return?
A Canada-resident, EFILE-registered filer transmits the return after reviewing what we prepare.
What software works with t1 personal tax preparation support?
T1 personal tax preparation support runs inside QuickBooks Online or Xero, whichever you already use. If you are not yet set up in either, we can configure a file in your name so you keep ownership of it once the engagement is under way.
How do we get started with t1 personal tax preparation support?
Getting started with t1 personal tax preparation support begins with a short review of your current records and software access. Once that is done we confirm scope and timing in writing, and ongoing work begins on the schedule agreed with you.
