Accounting and Payroll Support for Manama Businesses

Remote service for Manama businesses. Finbryn LLC is a Texas limited liability company.

Short answer

Finbryn provides remote accounting, tax-preparation support and payroll support for businesses in Manama. The strongest fit is the payroll side: the labour market regulator announced that from early 2026 every private employer must pay wages through its wage protection portal, with a monthly salary file and a named responsible person. The books and tax records are built around a register dominated by small firms. We have no office in Bahrain.

Bahrain's business register is a register of small firms. The Ministry of Industry and Commerce counted 33,707 new business registrations between 1 January 2024 and 25 February 2026, and micro, small and medium-sized firms held 85,700 active commercial registrations, 93.4% of the total (Daily Tribune, 23 July 2026). A firm of that size does not have a finance department. It has an owner, a bank account and, from early 2026, a wage portal that expects a file every month.

This page covers what a Manama business has to keep in order: the enhanced wage protection system, the records that tax and audit work draw on, the minimum tax for large groups and the statement about certified returns in the published guidance. Finbryn is a remote service with no office in Manama. We keep the books and support payroll, and a credentialed signer files where filing is required. Facts last checked on 23 October 2026.

A register of small and new firms

The Daily Tribune report of 23 July 2026, citing Ministry of Industry and Commerce figures, breaks the 33,707 new registrations of the period down by sector. Trade and vehicle repair accounted for 8,619 businesses, or 25.6%, the largest share, and professional, scientific and technical activities for 7,884, or 23.4%.

Two kinds of ledger follow from that. A trading business needs stock, supplier credit and a margin by product. A professional services business needs time and fee tracking, billing in advance and work in progress. We set the chart of accounts around which of the two the company is, because a standard template fits neither well.

The enhanced wage protection system

On 21 October 2025 the Labour Market Regulatory Authority announced that the Enhanced Wages Protection System would become mandatory for all private-sector employers from early 2026 (regulatory alert, 19 November 2025). Under the new system, salaries must be processed exclusively through the LMRA portal and direct bank transfers are not permitted. Employers must appoint a Wages Responsible Person, who can assign up to five maker and checker roles, and every user needs an advanced eKey. Salaries must be uploaded monthly in the prescribed file format even if nothing has changed, and employers must justify any non-payment or part payment. Administrative actions and fines apply for non-compliance. Domestic workers are excluded.

This is a monthly control, and a missed month is visible. Our payroll support prepares and reconciles the data the file is built from: contract salary against the register, joiners and leavers against current records, deductions and allowances against approvals. We do not hold your eKey, upload the file or release payments.

Who works in Bahrain's private sector

The Social Insurance Organisation's fourth-quarter 2025 statistical report counted 636,303 employees registered with it, and more than 477,000 foreign nationals registered in the private sector by year-end (Gulf Daily News, 25 March 2026). Foreign nationals are a large share of the registered workforce.

For a payroll team that matters because the records differ by employee: work permit and contract details feed the wage file, and benefits and end of service accruals depend on the contract. We keep one employee register that carries those fields, so payroll, the wage file and the accruals read from the same record. We do not state contribution rates here, because published rates differ by source and by nationality.

What the published tax guidance says

The Worldwide Tax Summaries entry for Bahrain, reviewed on 26 July 2026, states that approved accountants must prepare a certified tax return for the return to be acceptable to the authorities. It also describes the Domestic Minimum Top-up Tax, effective 1 January 2025 for groups that meet a revenue test in two of the previous four fiscal years: quarterly advance payments are due 60 days after each quarter, and the return and balance are due within 15 months of the fiscal year-end, with a filing entity registered with the National Bureau for Revenue.

We read that as two separate things. The certification is done by an approved accountant, which we are not, and we do not sign certified returns. The minimum tax concerns large groups, and we do not assess scope. What a Manama company can do is keep the books so that whoever certifies or files has what they need in one place.

Growth, and early scrutiny of young companies

Gulf Daily News reported on 14 April 2026 that Bahrain's economy grew 3.5% at constant prices in 2025, driven by a surging non-oil sector. A young finance or fintech company often has to show its books to a bank or an investor early.

We keep to bookkeeping for such a company: a monthly close, reconciled bank and safeguarding accounts kept separate from operating accounts, dated share-issue records and a clean split of fee income from other income. We do not describe or advise on central bank licensing.

Records that serve every filing

A Manama company will meet a different authority for each filing, and the ledger stays the same. We keep source documents indexed by month, bank reconciliations complete, a fixed asset register with purchase evidence, intercompany balances confirmed with the other side and an employee register tied to the wage file.

With those in place, a certified return, a wage file or an investor's request is a matter of exporting what exists and not reconstructing it. That is the work we do, and we are explicit that the authority-facing steps stay with the people entitled to take them.

What we do for Manama companies, and what we do not

The service is remote. We have no office, address or staff in Manama or anywhere in Bahrain, and nothing on this page implies otherwise. A named contact keeps your books, runs the monthly close and supports payroll, in the accounting software you already use.

We do not audit, sign or file, and we are not an approved accountant in Bahrain. We make no claim of approval from the National Bureau for Revenue or the LMRA, and we do not give relocation or cross-border advice. Prices are on the rates page, and an engagement letter spells out scope and terms.

Questions

Frequently asked questions: Manama

What does the enhanced wage protection system require of a Manama employer?

Salaries must go through the LMRA portal and not by direct transfer, a Wages Responsible Person must be appointed, and a monthly salary file is required even when nothing has changed, per a regulatory alert of 19 November 2025. We prepare and reconcile the data behind the file; you or your responsible person submit it.

Does payroll support include uploading the monthly file?

No. We do not hold your eKey or release payments. We reconcile the register, contracts and deductions the file is built from.

Who prepares a certified tax return in Bahrain?

The Worldwide Tax Summaries entry reviewed on 26 July 2026 says approved accountants must prepare a certified tax return. We are not an approved accountant and do not sign certified returns. We keep the records the certifying accountant needs.

Do you advise on licensing a fintech in Bahrain?

No. We keep a licensed or unlicensed company's books to a clean standard, and we do not advise on or describe central bank licensing.

Do you have an office in Manama?

No. The service is remote, with no local office and no team on site in Bahrain, and it is contracted through Finbryn LLC.
