Set up right, connected right

Software and migrations

Short answer

Finbryn sets up, cleans up and migrates the accounting software UAE companies run on: QuickBooks Online, Xero, NetSuite and Sage Intacct, plus the marketplace and payment integrations that feed them. You keep the subscription and the login. Configuration and reconciliation work is contracted through Northlane Solutions Inc. in the United States.

Why the software is usually the first fix, not the bookkeeping

A Dubai trading company registers for VAT once turnover crosses the AED 375,000 mandatory threshold, or a Sharjah agency incorporating on the mainland works out what corporate tax registration actually requires, and finds the underlying QuickBooks or Xero file was never built to carry either. A chart of accounts copied from a template, bank feeds miscoding freight and customs charges, a Xero file with no separate VAT-collected account: none of that gets fixed by working harder at month end. It gets fixed by rebuilding the structure first, before the Federal Tax Authority asks a question the file cannot answer.

What we work in

  • QuickBooks Online and Xero, the two platforms most Dubai and Abu Dhabi startups, agencies and trading companies run on
  • NetSuite and Sage Intacct for groups with more than one UAE entity, or a UAE holding company sitting over subsidiaries elsewhere in the GCC
  • A2X and Link My Books for sellers on Amazon.ae, noon and Shopify
  • Stripe and Bill.com for companies collecting and paying out in AED, USD and other currencies at once
  • Dext and Hubdoc, so supplier invoices and receipts stop sitting in a shared inbox

You keep the QuickBooks, Xero or NetSuite subscription in your own trade licence's name, whether that licence sits on the mainland or inside a free zone such as DMCC, JAFZA, RAKEZ or IFZA.

How a migration runs here

Every migration starts with a working session to agree the opening balance date, then a parallel import so nothing posts twice. Historical transactions tie out to bank statements rather than copy across as-is, and VAT codes get checked against the 5% standard rate and the AED 375,000 registration threshold before the file goes live. Once setup finishes, a named team stays on the account, and any change to how something is coded comes with a short written memo rather than a surprise inside the next management report.

Where this connects to the wider close

A clean chart of accounts is what corporate tax registration, the Federal Tax Authority's filing deadlines and Small Business Relief calculations all sit on top of. Software work connects into ongoing bookkeeping once a migration is live and reconciled.

Questions

Frequently asked questions: Software and migrations

Do we keep ownership of the QuickBooks or Xero file once you set it up?

Yes. The subscription stays in your trade licence's name, and we work inside it under access you grant and can revoke at any time.

Can you migrate a mainland company's books when it also has a free zone entity?

Yes, including keeping the two entities' charts of accounts separate while still reporting on both, whether the free zone entity sits in DMCC, JAFZA, ADGM, DIFC, RAKEZ or IFZA.

Do you handle the VAT coding needed for FTA compliance?

We set up and check VAT codes inside the software during migration, mapped to the 5% standard rate and the AED 375,000 mandatory registration threshold. The VAT return itself is prepared by our team; it is filed by the taxpayer or a tax agent registered with the FTA.

How long does a typical UAE migration take?

Most single-entity moves into QuickBooks Online or Xero complete in two to three weeks once we have access and an agreed starting balance date.

What access do you need to run a migration?

Administrator or export access to the old system for the duration of the move, plus setup access to the new platform. We never need your online banking credentials to complete the work.
