Filing-ready, prepared by people who already know your books
Tax preparation support
Finbryn prepares Australian BAS, IAS, company, trust and individual income tax workpapers, and R&D Tax Incentive documentation, only under a written supervision agreement with your TPB-registered agent, who reviews and lodges everything. Books are reconciled weekly and closed by business day five, so nothing waits for deadline week.

Prepared only once supervision is signed
The Tax Practitioners Board allows a registered agent to have preparation work carried out by a third party, provided the agent keeps supervision and control commensurate with the work and has your permission to share your information. Finbryn prepares BAS, IAS and income tax figures only after your TPB-registered agent has signed a written supervision agreement with us; until then we keep the books and your agent prepares and lodges directly. We never describe ourselves as your tax agent or BAS adviser.
What we prepare
- BAS and IAS workpapers reconciled to GST-inclusive accounts
- Company, trust and individual income tax return workpapers
- R&D Tax Incentive claim documentation tied to project records
- PAYG instalment calculations ahead of each due date
- Forward planning around entity structure and timing
Dates and thresholds that apply this year
A business must register for GST once turnover reaches A$75,000 (non-profits: A$150,000), within 21 days of crossing that line. Quarterly BAS for the 2026-27 year fall due 28 October 2026, 28 February 2027, 28 April 2027 and 28 July 2027; monthly BAS is due on the 21st of the following month. The Australian financial year runs 1 July to 30 June. Base rate entities pay company tax at 25%, other companies at 30%. A self-lodging individual's return is due by 31 October, with a later lodgment-program date available through your TPB-registered agent. The FBT year runs 1 April to 31 March, at a 47% rate.
Payroll rides alongside
Single Touch Payroll (including Phase 2 detail) is mandatory for employers, and from 1 July 2026 super must be paid at the same time as wages under Payday Super, landing in the employee's fund within 7 business days. The minimum compulsory super rate is 12%.
What stays fixed regardless of workload
Terms are set out in your engagement letter. Your Xero or QuickBooks file stays yours. A named pod, a recorded handover memo on any change, a reply within one business hour on business days, and senior principal review before anything reaches your TPB-registered agent.

Questions
Frequently asked questions: Tax preparation support
Do you lodge my BAS or tax return with the ATO?
No. We prepare the workpapers and the draft return, but only once your TPB-registered agent has signed a written supervision agreement with us. That agent reviews the work and lodges it; until the agreement is signed, we keep your books and your agent prepares and lodges directly.
Is it allowed for a third party to prepare our BAS and tax work?
Yes. The TPB permits a registered agent to have preparation work carried out by a third party, as long as the agent keeps adequate supervision and control, has your consent to share your information, and has signed a written supervision agreement before any of that work starts.
Which entities do you prepare income tax positions for?
Companies, trusts and individuals, including sole traders and directors reporting income alongside a company. Superannuation fund audit and financial-statement audit sit outside what we prepare.
Can you help with the R&D Tax Incentive?
We build the supporting documentation tying your project records and expenditure to a claim. The claim itself still runs through your registered agent and, where required, AusIndustry's assessment process.
What happens if my GST turnover crosses A$75,000 mid-year?
You have 21 days from becoming required to register to register for GST. We flag the threshold as soon as it shows up in your reconciled books, so registration does not slip past that window.
What is not included in tax preparation support?
We prepare the workpapers and supporting schedules; we do not lodge, sign or represent you with the ATO. That is done by your TPB-registered agent under the written supervision agreement covering our preparation work.
Who actually signs and lodges the return?
Your registered agent signs and lodges. We prepare the figures under their supervision, consistent with TPB rules on outsourced work, so responsibility for what is filed sits with your agent.
What is the general pricing approach for tax preparation support?
Priced per return type and entity complexity, confirmed once we understand your structure (individual, company, trust or partnership) and whether the engagement covers one entity or several.
What data and software access do you need?
Read-only access to your bookkeeping file for the relevant period and any prior year workpapers your agent can share, so opening positions match what was previously lodged.
