Filing-ready, prepared by people who already know your books
Tax preparation support
Finbryn provides preparation support for VAT returns under the One Stop Shop and Import One Stop Shop schemes, plus corporate income tax workpapers and advance instalment calculations, for businesses trading into the European Union. Books come from the team that already reconciles them monthly. A credentialed local partner in the relevant member state reviews and files anything reserved to that country.

Preparation support, filed through a credentialed local partner
Finbryn prepares the numbers. We do not file a VAT return or certify a statutory account ourselves anywhere in the European Union. Filing and certification sit with a credentialed local partner, such as a French expert-comptable or a German Steuerberater, because most member states reserve those acts to a locally credentialed professional. Where a filing needs that partner, we say so on the page and hand over a finished, reviewed workpaper rather than a half-built one.
Built from books already reconciled
Most EU tax work starts from the same monthly close our accounting team already runs in Xero or QuickBooks Online: categorised transactions, reconciled bank accounts, a trial balance that ties out. That means the VAT scheme review or the instalment calculation starts from numbers everyone already trusts, not a shoebox reconstruction each quarter.
What we cover across the EU
For businesses selling to consumers across the 27 member states, we prepare returns under the One Stop Shop (OSS) and Import One Stop Shop (IOSS) schemes: OSS covers cross-border sales of goods and digital services above EUR 10,000 a year in aggregate, and IOSS applies to imported consignments valued at EUR 150 or less. Standard VAT rates cannot sit below 15% anywhere in the bloc, and a separate SME VAT scheme lets qualifying small businesses stay VAT-exempt up to a national threshold that member states may set as high as EUR 85,000 domestically, or EUR 100,000 across borders. We also build:
- Corporate income tax workpapers under IFRS, IFRS for SMEs, or the relevant local GAAP
- Advance instalment schedules for corporate income tax, which most member states require through the year rather than as one year-end bill
- Notice response support when a national tax authority writes back with a question
- Research and development incentive documentation, since many member states run their own patent box or R&D credit regime alongside the EU-wide rules
Where the work happens
Every month's work is reviewed by a senior principal before it reaches you, and your file stays in your own QuickBooks Online, Xero or SAP Business One account. We name the company responsible for your data, Northlane Solutions Inc., and whoever signs anything that needs signing, before your books move.

Questions
Frequently asked questions: Tax preparation support
Do you file our VAT return yourselves?
No. We prepare the workpapers and the draft return under the OSS or IOSS scheme; a credentialed local partner or your own registration reviews and files it.
We sell into several member states. Do we need to register in each one?
Usually not. The One Stop Shop lets you declare VAT on qualifying cross-border sales through a single registration instead of one per country, and we handle the mapping behind it.
Can you give us formal tax guidance for our German entity specifically?
No. In Germany, assistance in tax matters is reserved to a Steuerberater under the StBerG, so for German entities we supply only bookkeeping and the figures your Steuerberater asks for.
Where does our financial data actually go?
Your books stay in your own QuickBooks Online, Xero or SAP Business One account. How any personal data is safeguarded when our team processes it is set out in our privacy policy.
Do you handle statutory accounts as well as tax?
We prepare the underlying bookkeeping and financial statements. Certifying or filing statutory accounts in most member states needs a locally credentialed partner: Northlane Solutions Inc. names that partner and confirms who signs before anything is filed.
What is not included in tax preparation support?
Filing or signing the VAT, OSS or IOSS return, and giving formal tax advice for your entity, both sit outside preparation support and go to a credentialed local partner. We prepare the underlying data and calculations that partner needs to file quickly and correctly.
What software do you use to prepare EU tax data?
We work from your existing Xero, QuickBooks Online or Sage ledger and marketplace or billing feeds, preparing OSS and IOSS data in the format your credentialed local partner's filing software or portal expects, rather than requiring a separate tax platform on your side.
How is pricing structured for tax preparation support?
Pricing follows return complexity and the number of member states or entities in scope, not a flat fee regardless of filing type. The figure is set out in your engagement letter alongside which credentialed partner handles the actual filing on your behalf.
