A register that holds up under local GAAP
Depreciation rules differ by member state and by whether a business reports under IFRS for SMEs or a national GAAP. Finbryn logs every fixed asset with its purchase date, cost and useful life, then posts depreciation on a consistent schedule so the balance sheet stays accurate regardless of which framework applies.
What the register covers
- Every fixed asset logged with purchase date, cost and useful life
- Depreciation calculated and posted each period under a consistent method
- Disposals and trade-ins removed from the register with any gain or loss recorded
- A schedule your registered local partner can use for statutory reporting or a local tax computation
Coordinating the tax treatment
We maintain the register for financial reporting; the depreciation method or election used on a local tax return or statutory filing is decided by your registered local partner, since that treatment can differ from the financial-reporting figure under a given member state's rules.
Assets shared across entities
A group with equipment used by more than one entity in the structure needs the register to reflect where an asset actually sits and who is entitled to the depreciation charge. We track that ownership clearly rather than letting it blur across the group.
Questions
Frequently asked questions: Fixed asset register
Do you decide the depreciation method used for our tax filing?
No. We maintain the register for financial reporting; your registered local partner decides the method or election for a tax return.
Does the register work the same across different EU member states?
The underlying tracking is consistent; presentation and the tax treatment vary by member state and go through your registered local partner.
Do you handle assets shared across more than one entity in our group?
Yes, a shared asset is tagged to its owning entity with usage or cost-sharing noted, so depreciation lands on the right entity's books rather than being duplicated or split arbitrarily between them. This setup is confirmed once with you and then applied consistently going forward.
What happens when an asset is disposed of or sold?
The disposal is recorded against the asset's net book value, with any gain or loss on sale posted separately, and the asset removed from the active register from that date rather than left sitting on it.
Do you decide which depreciation method or tax election to use?
No. We maintain the register and book depreciation for financial reporting; your tax preparer decides which depreciation method or election fits your return.
What if we have never tracked fixed assets before?
We build the register from purchase records and prior tax depreciation schedules as part of catch-up work.
What software works with fixed asset register?
Fixed asset register runs inside QuickBooks Online or Xero, whichever you already use. If you are not yet set up in either, we can configure a file in your name so you keep ownership of it once the engagement is under way.
How do we get started with fixed asset register?
Getting started with fixed asset register begins with a short review of your current records and software access. Once that is done we confirm scope and timing in writing, and ongoing work begins on the schedule agreed with you.
