Books ready before the auditor shows up
Audit and compliance support
Finbryn prepares the reconciliations, schedules and provided-by-client documentation an auditor, grant funder or examiner asks for in the EU, so fieldwork moves faster with fewer follow-up rounds. The file is built under IFRS or local GAAP; the statutory audit is carried out by an independent audit firm registered in your member state.

What audit support means across the EU
An audit slips because the schedule behind a number is not ready, not because the transaction itself was wrong. We close that gap before your auditor's fieldwork starts: every account reconciled to its statement, every accrual and provision backed by a schedule that ties to the trial balance, and documents organised against the request list before it is even sent.
What stays with an authorised auditor or local partner
Statutory audit in an EU member state is carried out only by an independent audit firm registered and authorised to practise under that country's audit oversight body. We do not perform the audit, form an opinion, or sign statutory accounts. Where statutory accounts require certification, filing sits with your appointed local accountant (an expert-comptable in France, a Steuerberater or Wirtschaftsprüfer in Germany, or the equivalent body in your member state); our role stops at preparing the file they certify.
The same boundary holds for a service-organisation examination that a EU-based company undergoes for a US or international customer: an independent audit firm performs that examination under the relevant attestation standard, and we keep the financial evidence behind it current.
Working papers, PBC lists and grant funds
Whether the reviewer is a statutory auditor, a Horizon Europe or national grant officer, or a customer's due-diligence team, the pattern repeats: a request list, a set of schedules, and a trail back to source documents. We track the list item by item, build lead schedules cross-referenced to the trial balance, and keep grant funds coded to their approved budget line so a funder's report ties out without reconstruction.
Where the work is done
Every file is reviewed by a senior principal before it reaches you, and the underlying books stay in your own accounting software. Northlane Solutions Inc. is the company you contract with.
Getting started
Most EU businesses see the clearest benefit starting two to three months ahead of fieldwork, so open items surface while there is still time to fix them. See pricing for how audit-readiness and grant-compliance engagements are scoped.
All services
Audit and compliance support: every service
- Audit-ready booksMonthly and year-end books maintained with the support and schedules an external auditor expects to see on day one, so fieldwork starts without a scramble to reconstruct records.
- PBC list managementThe auditor's provided-by-client request list tracked item by item, with documents gathered, organized and delivered on schedule instead of chased down in the final week.
- Working paper preparationSupporting schedules and reconciliations built the way an auditor expects to see them, cross-referenced to the trial balance, so review comments come back with fewer open questions.
- Internal controls documentationFinancial process controls, such as who approves a payment or reconciles an account, written down and walked through with your team, so an auditor or funder can see how the numbers are actually produced.
- Grant compliance supportGrant funds tracked separately from other revenue, spent against the approved budget, and documented the way a funder or a single-audit reviewer expects to see it.
- SOC readiness bookkeepingFinancial recordkeeping and evidence-gathering support for companies preparing for a service-organization examination, keeping the accounting-side documentation consistent while the technical control work is led by your security team or examiner.
Questions
Frequently asked questions: Audit and compliance support
Do you perform the statutory audit?
No. We prepare the reconciled books, schedules and documentation the audit relies on. The audit itself, and any opinion, comes from an independent audit firm registered and authorised to practise in your member state.
Who certifies or files our statutory accounts?
Your appointed local accountant, such as an expert-comptable in France or a Steuerberater or Wirtschaftsprüfer in Germany. We prepare the file to the standard they need; certification and filing stay with them.
How far in advance should we bring you in before fieldwork?
Two to three months ahead of fieldwork gives the most room to reconcile accounts, build schedules and clear open items before the auditor's clock starts.
Can you support a Horizon Europe or national grant audit trail?
Yes. We track grant funds separately from other revenue, code spending against the approved budget, and organise documentation the way a funder or reviewer expects to see it.
Do working papers stay inside our own software?
Yes. Schedules and lead sheets are built inside the ledger and folder structure you already use, not a separate system only we can see.
What falls outside audit and compliance support?
The statutory audit sign-off itself, and certifying or filing statutory accounts, stay with your appointed auditor or a credentialed local partner. We build the working papers, PBC responses and control documentation that make their review faster, not the sign-off that comes at the end of it.
What software do you use for working papers and PBC tracking?
We work inside whatever your audit firm or grant funder already uses, typically Excel-based working paper templates or a dedicated audit platform, plus your existing Xero, QuickBooks Online or Sage Intacct ledger as the source of the underlying numbers behind every schedule.
How is pricing structured for audit and compliance support?
Pricing is scoped by the size of the PBC list and the number of entities involved, agreed before fieldwork begins rather than billed by the hour as questions come in. The figure sits in your engagement letter alongside the agreed timeline for delivery.
