Bookkeeping
Monthly bookkeeping
Monthly bookkeeping for Canadian businesses from Finbryn: transactions coded in QuickBooks Online, Xero or Sage 50, every bank, card and payment account reconciled, GST or HST tracked on its own line, and a profit and loss statement, balance sheet and open-items list delivered each month under ASPE or IFRS.

How a Canadian month closes
Once the month ends we pull activity from your connected bank feeds and apps, code each transaction to your chart of accounts, and match receipts to card spend. GST or HST collected and paid is coded to its own line from the start, not sorted out at year end. Every account, including payment processors, is reconciled to its statement so the books agree with the bank.
What lands in your inbox
Anything the records do not explain, an e-Transfer with no invoice behind it, a new vendor, a personal card charge, goes on a short open-items list. Once you answer those we close the month and send a profit and loss statement and balance sheet. If your business runs on accrual, receivables and payables stay current too, consistent with ASPE or IFRS.
GST/HST without the year-end scramble
Because the GST/HST line is reconciled every month, the figure due on your next return is already sitting in the ledger rather than reconstructed under deadline pressure. Filing the return stays with you or your registered preparer; we track and reconcile.
Software that stays yours
We work inside QuickBooks Online, Xero or Sage 50, whichever subscription is already in your name, and connect Dext for receipt capture or Wagepoint where payroll needs to post into the ledger.
Starting point matters
If the last few months are not reconciled yet, we start with catch-up and cleanup so the monthly close starts from correct opening balances. Billing terms, including how to stop the service, are set out in your engagement letter. See pricing for the published rate.
Questions
Frequently asked questions: Monthly bookkeeping
How fast do I get my monthly numbers?
We set a close date with you at onboarding based on when your feeds and receipts are complete, and the same named pod handles your file every month.
Do you handle more than one bank account or province's sales tax?
Yes. Every connected account is reconciled, and GST, HST or a separate provincial sales tax is coded correctly for wherever you operate.
What if I need something specific for my T2 preparer?
Tell us what your preparer wants, such as a fixed asset schedule, and it becomes part of the monthly close.
What exactly is included in monthly bookkeeping?
Transactions sorted into categories against your chart of accounts, and bank, card and payment-processor accounts reconciled to statements. This work runs inside QuickBooks Online or Xero, whichever your business already has in place, and it rolls into your regular monthly close rather than sitting off to the side as a separate, unreconciled process.
What happens to our monthly bookkeeping records if we switch providers?
Everything stays inside your own QuickBooks Online or Xero account, so the full history transfers with the subscription, not with Finbryn. You can hand monthly bookkeeping to another provider or bring it in-house at any point without losing a reconciliation or having to rebuild the file first.
Do I have to switch accounting software?
No. We work inside your QuickBooks Online or Xero file. If you have no file yet, we set one up in your name so you own it from day one.
What do you need from me each month?
Read-only bank feeds, receipts for card spend, and answers to the questions we log on the open-items list.
What is included in monthly bookkeeping?
Monthly bookkeeping covers transactions sorted into categories against your chart of accounts and bank, card and payment-processor accounts reconciled to statements. The exact scope is agreed and set out in writing before work starts, so you know precisely what is and is not covered before the first deliverable arrives.
How is monthly bookkeeping priced?
Pricing for monthly bookkeeping depends on your transaction volume, the software you use, and how much cleanup is needed before ongoing work starts. Current ranges are published on the pricing page, and your exact fee is confirmed in writing before anything begins.
