Management reports

Short answer

Management reports from Finbryn give EU business owners a monthly profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow statement with a plain-English note on what actually changed, built from the same closed books used for local statutory accounts, in Xero, QuickBooks Online, Exact or SAP Business One.

Reviewer's note

Software is up on last month after two seats were added mid-month. Revenue includes one milestone invoice that will not repeat next month.

Illustrative. An example of the document, not a client's figures.

Reports built to be read, not filed away

A profit and loss and balance sheet on their own tell you what happened. They do not tell you why. Each month we add a short written narrative pointing at the two or three things that actually moved the numbers, whether that is a currency swing between euro-reporting and a non-euro subsidiary, a slow quarter for one product line, or a customer who finally settled a balance carried for months.

What is inside the package

A profit and loss statement compared against the prior period and, where you have one, a budget. A balance sheet with supporting schedules for the accounts that matter most, such as trade receivables ageing. A statement of cash flows so cash movement is visible separately from accrual profit. Where a group operates in several member states, we split reporting by entity or country so a manager in one market is not reading numbers blended with another.

Who reads these reports

These reports are often used to run the business between board meetings, then the same package goes to a local accountant at statutory-accounts time or to an investor before a funding round. Building one report that serves every audience saves reformatting the same numbers three times.

Local accounts stay separate

These reports support decisions inside your business. Your annual statutory accounts, and any local GAAP certification a member state requires, are prepared and certified by your appointed local partner, not by us.

Getting started

Management reports assume a close has already happened; see month-end close first. Groups with entities in several member states should also see consolidations.

Questions

Frequently asked questions: Management reports

Can reports be split by country or entity?

Yes, as long as the chart of accounts or the tracking categories in your software support the split, which is common for groups operating in more than one member state.

Do management reports replace what our local accountant needs at year end?

They give your local accountant a clean, reconciled starting point, but statutory accounts and their certification are a separate service handled by your appointed local partner.

How is a management report different from what our accounting software generates automatically?

The numbers come from software such as Xero or Exact, but the reconciliation behind them and the written narrative explaining what moved are not something a default software report does.

Can the report include commentary, or just the numbers?

Yes, a short written commentary on the month's notable movements is included alongside the figures, so the report explains what changed rather than leaving that interpretation entirely for you to work out on your own.

How is a management report format decided for a new client?

We start from a standard template and adjust which metrics lead based on what actually drives decisions in your business, agreed with you before the first report goes out rather than guessed at. The format is confirmed with you before the first report is ever delivered.

Who actually reads these reports?

Usually the owner or CFO first, then whoever they answer to: a lender, an investor, a board or a franchisor.

Can reports be split by location or department?

Yes, as long as the chart of accounts or the class and location tracking in your software supports that split.

How is management reports priced?

Pricing for management reports depends on your transaction volume, the software you use, and how much cleanup is needed before ongoing work starts. Current ranges are published on the pricing page, and your exact fee is confirmed in writing before anything begins.

What software works with management reports?

Management reports runs inside QuickBooks Online or Xero, whichever you already use. If you are not yet set up in either, we can configure a file in your name so you keep ownership of it once the engagement is under way.
