Monthly bookkeeping
Monthly bookkeeping is the recurring service that turns a month of bank and card activity into categorized transactions, reconciled accounts, and a profit and loss statement and balance sheet you can actually read. Finbryn's team codes the month in QuickBooks Online, Xero or Dext, reconciles every account, flags anything unusual on a short open-items list, and a senior reviewer reviews the work before it reaches you.
What is included
- Transactions coded to your chart of accounts
- Bank, card and payment-processor accounts reconciled to statements
- Monthly profit and loss statement
- Monthly balance sheet
- Open-items list with plain-English descriptions
- A short written note on anything unusual in the month
- Payroll journal entries reconciled to the bank, where applicable
- A locked, audit-ready period once the close is final
The process
- 1.
Pull the month
Bank, card and payment-processor activity is imported from connected feeds once statements are available after month end.
- 2.
Code transactions
Each transaction is matched to a receipt or invoice where one exists and coded to your chart of accounts.
- 3.
Flag open items
Anything that cannot be resolved from the records alone goes on a short open-items list for you to answer.
- 4.
Reconcile every account
Bank, card and processor accounts are matched line by line to their statements until the balances agree exactly.
- 5.
Senior review
A senior reviewer checks the file for miscoding, missed reconciling items and anything that looks off against prior months.
- 6.
Deliver and close
The profit and loss statement, balance sheet and any remaining notes are delivered on the agreed close date, and the period is locked.
Software
QuickBooks Online, Xero, Dext, Hubdoc, Stripe, PayPal, Gusto
Quality control
A senior reviewer reviews the file before the reports go out, checking for miscoded transactions, missed reconciling items and anything that looks off against the prior month's trend.
Pricing
Monthly bookkeeping is priced by transaction volume, not a flat fee. The published rate card at /us/pricing lists named tiers by monthly expense volume, starting with businesses under roughly $50,000 a month in expenses and scaling up for higher-volume businesses needing AP/AR support and 1099 tracking. Any catch-up work needed before ongoing bookkeeping starts is quoted separately once we see the accounts.
