Books, reconciled every week
Bookkeeping
Finbryn keeps the books for US small businesses in QuickBooks Online, Xero or the platform you already run, in a file you own. Every transaction is categorized, bank and card accounts are reconciled, and you get monthly reports reviewed by a senior principal before they reach you.

What US bookkeeping with Finbryn covers
Bookkeeping is the record everything else depends on: your tax return, your loan application, the number you quote an investor, the decision to hire. We take the monthly work off your plate and hand back books that reconcile to your bank statements, on a cash or accrual basis, whichever your business runs on.
Each month we categorize income and spending against a chart of accounts built for how your business actually works, reconcile every bank, card and payment-processor account, and close with a profit and loss statement, a balance sheet and a short list of open questions. A large unexplained transfer or a vendor billed twice gets flagged to you in plain English, not buried in a report.
Beyond the basics
Some businesses need more than a monthly close. We also cover chart of accounts design, inventory accounting with proper cost of goods sold, a fixed asset register with depreciation on schedule, multi-currency and intercompany work for businesses with more than one entity, and class and location tracking for businesses that need profit and loss split by property or department. Vendor coding matters more than it looks: the IRS 1099-NEC reporting threshold rises from $600 to $2,000 for payments made in 2026 and later years, so keeping contractor payments coded correctly from month one avoids a scramble every January.
Any software, one standard of work
We work in QuickBooks Online, Xero, NetSuite, Sage, Zoho Books, FreshBooks or Wave, whichever you already run, and connect Dext or Hubdoc for receipt capture where it saves you time. We do not move your books into a proprietary system, so you can hand the file to anyone at any point.
Reviewed before it reaches you
Every month's work is reviewed by a senior principal before it reaches you, and your file stays in your own QuickBooks Online, Xero or Sage account.
Starting from a mess
If your books are months behind, start with catch-up and cleanup and move to monthly bookkeeping once the backlog is clear. The pricing page shows how both are priced.
All services
Bookkeeping: every service
- Monthly bookkeepingOngoing monthly bookkeeping: transactions sorted into categories, accounts reconciled and month-end reports delivered in the software you already use.
- Cash basis bookkeepingBooks kept on a cash basis, recording income and expenses when money actually moves, for owners who want simple books that match their bank balance.
- Accrual basis bookkeepingBooks kept on an accrual basis, matching income and expenses to the period they were earned or incurred, so reports reflect the real state of the business.
- Catch-up and cleanup bookkeepingMonths or years of books brought up to date and reconciled, with a written record of every adjustment, so monthly bookkeeping can start from a clean base.
- Bank and credit card reconciliationEvery bank, card and payment-processor account reconciled line by line against its statement, so the balance in your books always matches the balance at the institution.
- Chart of accounts designA chart of accounts built around how your business actually operates, so reports answer real questions instead of forcing everything into generic categories.
- Multi-currency bookkeepingBookkeeping for businesses that bill, pay or hold funds in more than one currency, with exchange gains and losses tracked separately from operating results.
- Inventory accountingInventory tracked from purchase through sale, with cost of goods sold calculated properly instead of estimated, on a periodic or perpetual basis.
- Fixed asset registerA running register of equipment, vehicles and other fixed assets, with depreciation calculated and posted on a set schedule so the balance sheet stays accurate.
- Intercompany accountingBookkeeping across two or more related entities, with intercompany loans, charges and transfers tracked and eliminated so consolidated reports are not overstated.
- Class and location trackingTransactions tagged by class, location, property or department, so profit and loss can be sliced by the parts of the business that actually matter to you.
- Receipt capture with Dext and HubdocReceipts and bills captured through Dext or Hubdoc and matched to the right transaction automatically, so paperwork stops piling up at month end.

Questions
Frequently asked questions: Bookkeeping
Do I keep ownership of my books?
Yes. The QuickBooks Online, Xero or other file is in your name and stays yours. If you ever leave, you keep the file and its full history.
Who can see my financial data?
Only the accounting team assigned to your books, working in software access you grant and can revoke at any time.
Does bookkeeping include my tax return?
No. Bookkeeping produces the records a tax return is built from. Return preparation is a separate service, and any return is signed by a credentialed preparer.
What software do you support?
QuickBooks Online, Xero, NetSuite, Sage, Zoho Books, FreshBooks and Wave. We work inside the platform you already use rather than pushing our own.
What is out of scope for bookkeeping compared with tax and advisory work?
Bookkeeping covers categorizing transactions, reconciling accounts and delivering monthly reports. It does not include preparing or filing a tax return, running payroll, or building a cash flow forecast; those sit under tax preparation support, payroll support and virtual CFO advisory as separate services you can add.
How soon after month end do I see reconciled books?
A close date is agreed during onboarding based on when your statements and receipts are typically available, and the team works to that same date every month so reporting becomes predictable rather than a surprise each cycle.
What happens if my bookkeeper leaves or the team assigned to me changes?
A named pod is assigned to your account, and any change to that pod comes with a recorded handover memo covering open items, unresolved questions and where the last close left off, so continuity does not depend on one person's memory.
How is monthly bookkeeping priced?
Pricing is set from transaction volume, number of accounts and whether you run cash or accrual, and is published on our pricing page rather than quoted after a sales call. Catch-up work on a backlog is scoped and priced separately from ongoing monthly work.
