Workpapers built for scrutiny, not a monthly close
Forensic accounting support
Finbryn prepares forensic accounting support for US attorneys, business owners, boards and insurers: transaction tracing, fraud-indicator review, records reconstruction and litigation support schedules. We build the workpapers a dispute or investigation runs on. A credentialed expert-witness partner testifies where testimony is needed, and a senior reviewer reviews every deliverable before it reaches you.

What forensic accounting support means at Finbryn
A dispute, an investigation or an insurance claim runs on numbers, and those numbers only hold up if every figure traces back to a source document. Finbryn builds that trail: transactions traced across accounts, records rebuilt where the existing books cannot be relied on, and schedules organized the way counsel, a board or an adjuster expects to see them.
This is bookkeeping-level and analytical work, not an audit and not a legal opinion. We do not issue an opinion on financial statements, and we do not draw legal conclusions about who is at fault. What we do is trace the money, reconstruct what is missing, and lay out the figures clearly enough that a lawyer, a mediator, an insurer or a fact-finder can act on them.
Where this fits
Common matters include a suspected embezzlement, a partner or shareholder dispute, a business interruption claim, an economic damages calculation, and divorce or family-law financial schedules. Each engagement starts with a scoping call covering the matter, the records available and the deadline, often with your attorney on the call.
Where the line sits
Our team prepares litigation support schedules and expert-witness workpapers. We do not testify. Where a matter needs sworn testimony, a credentialed expert-witness partner engaged separately by you or your counsel takes that role, working from the analysis we prepared. We also do not claim to be Certified Fraud Examiners; our fraud-indicator review surfaces patterns worth a closer look, it does not itself conclude that fraud occurred.
Reviewed before it reaches you
Every workpaper, schedule and exhibit is reviewed by a senior reviewer before it reaches you or your counsel, and the underlying data comes from your own QuickBooks Online, Xero, NetSuite or other accounting system, extracted without altering the original file.
Pricing
Forensic and investigative work is scoped and quoted per engagement rather than sold at a fixed monthly rate. The pricing page explains how our standard bookkeeping tiers work; a forensic engagement is quoted separately once we understand the matter.
All services
Forensic accounting support: every service
- Transaction tracing and funds-flow analysisTracing how money actually moved through a business's accounts, bank to bank and entity to entity, so a transfer that looked ordinary on a statement is laid out step by step for counsel or an investigator.
- Financial records reconstructionRebuilding a complete financial record from bank statements, invoices and whatever source documents survive, for a dispute, investigation or claim where the existing books cannot be relied on as they stand.
- Fraud-indicator reviewScreening a set of books for the patterns that tend to accompany fraud: Benford's Law deviations, duplicate payments, round-dollar entries and vendors that do not hold up to a closer look.
- Embezzlement investigation supportBookkeeping-level support for an internal or external embezzlement investigation: tracing suspected diversions, quantifying the loss period by period, and preparing the schedules an investigator or insurer will ask for.
- Partner and shareholder dispute accountingAccounting support when partners or shareholders disagree about money: reconstructing capital accounts, tracing distributions and compensation, and laying out the figures both sides are actually arguing about.
- Litigation support schedulesAccounting schedules prepared for counsel in a pending or active matter: transaction summaries, reconciliations and damages exhibits built to the standard a filing or a deposition requires.
- Economic damages calculation supportPreparing the lost-profits workpapers behind a claim: a but-for scenario built from the business's actual financial history, with every assumption stated and traceable to a source document.
- Business interruption insurance claim accountingAccounting support for a business interruption claim: quantifying lost income against the policy period, reconciling it to the business's own records, and preparing the workpapers an adjuster will review.
- Divorce and family-law financial schedules supportFinancial schedules prepared for a divorce or family-law matter: tracing business and personal accounts, calculating income available for support, and organizing the figures for counsel or a mediator.
- Forensic data extraction from accounting systemsPulling a complete transaction history out of QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite or another system, with the audit trail preserved, so the data behind a review or investigation is not altered on the way out.
- Expert-witness supportPreparing the workpapers and exhibits a testifying expert relies on. We build the underlying analysis; testimony at a deposition or trial is given by a credentialed expert-witness partner, not by our accounting team.
- Internal investigation bookkeepingBookkeeping-level support for an internal investigation opened by a board, an owner or counsel: pulling and organizing the financial records a fact-finder needs without altering the underlying accounting file.
Questions
Frequently asked questions: Forensic accounting support
What does forensic accounting support cover?
It covers transaction tracing and funds-flow analysis, records reconstruction, fraud-indicator review, litigation support schedules and related work for a dispute, investigation or claim. The exact mix is scoped once we understand the matter and the records available.
Do you testify as an expert witness?
No. We prepare the workpapers, schedules and exhibits an expert relies on. Testimony at a deposition or trial is given by a credentialed expert-witness partner engaged separately by you or your counsel.
Are your staff Certified Fraud Examiners?
We do not claim that credential. Forensic accounting support at Finbryn is a bookkeeping and analysis service, reviewed by a senior reviewer. Where a matter calls for a credentialed fraud examiner, we work alongside one engaged by you or your counsel.
How is forensic accounting support priced?
It is scoped and quoted per engagement once we understand the matter, the records involved and the deadline, rather than sold at a fixed monthly rate. The pricing page shows how our standard bookkeeping tiers work; a forensic engagement is quoted separately.
How do we get started?
We start with a short scoping call covering the matter, the records available and any deadline, often with your attorney included. Once scope is agreed in writing, work begins on the timeline the matter requires.
Can this work be used in court?
Our workpapers are built to be traceable and well documented, which is what a court, a mediator or an insurer expects to see. Whether a specific document is admissible, and any testimony about it, is a matter for counsel and a credentialed expert-witness partner where testimony is needed.
