When the IRS has already sent a letter
Tax resolution support
Finbryn prepares the paperwork behind an IRS or state tax problem: notices, transcripts, unfiled returns, penalty relief, payment plans and settlement statements. Representation before the IRS, meaning anyone who calls, writes or appears on your case, is provided through our enrolled agent or CPA partner under a Form 2848, consistent with Circular 230.

When a letter changes everything
A notice, an unfiled year, or a balance that has been sitting unpaid does not go away on its own, and the longer it sits, the more the interest and penalties compound on top of the original tax. Most business owners do not have a spare week to read IRS procedure and figure out which form applies to their situation. Finbryn does that reading for you, then builds the actual paperwork the case needs.
What this covers
We prepare IRS notice responses, pull and read IRS transcripts, file unfiled back-tax returns, request penalty abatement, build installment agreements and offer in compromise financial statements, prepare currently-not-collectible requests, handle payroll tax problems including Trust Fund Recovery Penalty exposure, assemble correspondence audit document packs, work state notices and collections, and respond to an active wage garnishment, bank levy or tax lien.
Representation happens through a credentialed partner
Our team builds the case: the transcripts, the financial statements, the return, the request letter. Anyone who actually calls the IRS, writes to an examiner, or appears on a case is our enrolled agent or CPA partner, engaged under a Form 2848 you sign, consistent with Circular 230. You always know who is authorized to speak for you and can see the authorization yourself.
What this does not include
Tax resolution support is preparation and case-building, not a financial-statement audit and not legal advice. Where a matter needs an independent audit, we hand off to an outside audit firm; where it needs an attorney, such as a lien affecting a property sale or a bankruptcy question, we coordinate with the attorney you choose rather than advising on it ourselves.
Starting point
Most cases start with IRS transcript analysis so everyone is working from the same confirmed numbers before any request goes to the IRS. Rates for each sub-service are on the pricing page.
All services
Tax resolution support: every service
- IRS notice review and response draftingEvery IRS or state notice read line by line, translated into plain language, and turned into a documented response draft, so you know exactly what is being asked and what the deadline actually is before anything gets sent.
- IRS transcript analysisWe pull and read your IRS account, wage and income, and return transcripts to establish exactly what the IRS has on file: what is filed, what is assessed, what has accrued, and what the real deadline clock looks like.
- Unfiled back-tax return preparationPrior-year returns you never filed get built from bank records, transcripts and whatever documentation exists, in the order the IRS needs to see them, so a payment plan, penalty relief or settlement request has something real to stand on.
- Penalty abatement request preparationFailure-to-file and failure-to-pay penalties reviewed for first-time abatement eligibility or a genuine reasonable-cause story, written up and supported with documentation, then handed to a credentialed representative to submit on your behalf.
- Installment agreement preparationA monthly payment plan sized to what your income and expenses can actually support, backed by the right financial disclosure for the balance involved, prepared for our enrolled agent or CPA partner to propose to the IRS or a state.
- Offer in compromise financial statement preparationA complete, honest Form 433-A, 433-B or 433-F financial statement built from your actual assets, income and expenses, so the settlement amount our enrolled agent or CPA partner proposes reflects what the IRS's own formula would calculate.
- Currently-not-collectible request supportWhen paying anything at all would leave you unable to cover basic living or business costs, we document that on Form 433-F or 433-A and prepare the request for a currently-not-collectible hold, so active collection pauses while your situation stands.
- Payroll tax problem supportUnpaid payroll tax deposits get sorted out fast, because the exposure runs personal, not just corporate. We document who actually controlled payroll decisions and prepare the Trust Fund Recovery Penalty response for our credentialed partner to handle.
- IRS correspondence audit document packsWhen the IRS opens a correspondence audit by mail on a specific deduction or credit, we assemble the receipts, statements and workpapers it is asking for into one organized package, matched line by line to the letter's actual request.
- State tax notice and collections supportState revenue department notices, income tax and sales tax balances, and state-level collection actions get the same documented treatment as an IRS case, adapted to each state's own process, forms and payment-plan rules.
- Wage garnishment and levy release supportAn active wage garnishment or bank levy gets addressed on an emergency timeline: transcripts pulled immediately, a release request built around hardship or a resolution already in progress, and the case handed to our credentialed partner right away.
- Tax lien supportA filed federal tax lien affects credit, property sales and refinancing long after the notice arrives. We document the balance behind it and prepare a withdrawal, discharge or subordination request for our credentialed partner once the facts support one.
Questions
Frequently asked questions: Tax resolution support
Do you represent me directly in front of the IRS?
No. Our team prepares the case: transcripts, financial statements, forms and the return itself. Representation, meaning anyone who calls, writes or appears on your behalf, is our enrolled agent or CPA partner under a Form 2848 you sign, consistent with Circular 230.
What is the first thing that happens when I bring you a tax problem?
We request your IRS transcripts to see exactly what the IRS has on file for every year involved, then map out which sub-services the case actually needs before proposing anything to the IRS.
Can you help if I have unfiled returns going back several years?
Yes. Unfiled back-tax return preparation is usually the first practical step, since the IRS generally requires all required returns filed before a payment plan or settlement request can be approved.
How is tax resolution support priced?
Pricing depends on which sub-services apply and how many years or notices are involved. Current ranges are on the pricing page, and your exact fee is confirmed in writing before work starts.
Does this replace my regular tax preparation?
No. Tax resolution support deals with a problem that already exists: a notice, an old balance, an unfiled year. Ongoing annual return preparation is a separate service under tax preparation support.
Is any outcome with the IRS certain?
No. We do not promise a specific result on a payment plan, penalty relief or settlement request. What we control is building an accurate, complete case for our credentialed partner to present.
