Statutory accounting and annual statement support for small insurers
Finbryn provides statutory and GAAP trial balances from one close, plus the supporting schedules for the NAIC annual statement, to small insurers and startup carriers, for their officers to review and sign. NAIC Model #205, read 2026-10-19, puts the audited report due June 1; your independent CPA audits, and your appointed actuary signs the actuarial opinion.
What is included
- Statutory and GAAP trial balances from one close
- Annual and quarterly statement schedules prepared for officer review
- A statutory-to-GAAP bridge with each reconciling item explained
- Reconciliation of the audited statutory statements to the filed annual statement
- Model Audit Rule readiness workpapers and a provided-by-client list for the independent CPA
The process
- 1.
Read the domicile's version of the rule
Check the exemption test, filing dates, auditor rules and thresholds in the state's adopted text.
- 2.
Map the ledger to both bases
Every account carries a statutory line and a GAAP line, with the adjustment list agreed in advance.
- 3.
Close the period once
One close produces the statutory and GAAP trial balances; quarterly closes follow the 45-day statement date.
- 4.
Prepare schedules and the bridge
Annual or quarterly schedules and the statutory-to-GAAP bridge go to your CFO for review.
- 5.
Officers sign and the appointed actuary signs the opinion
Your officers review and sign the statement; the appointed actuary signs the actuarial opinion.
- 6.
Organize the auditor's list
The independent CPA receives reconciliations, narratives and the provided-by-client package and audits.
