IRS transcript analysis
IRS transcript analysis from Finbryn requests and reads a client's IRS account, wage and income, and return transcripts to establish exactly what the IRS has on file: filed years, assessments, and each open year's collection deadline. Our enrolled agent or CPA partner requests transcripts under a Form 2848, consistent with Circular 230.
What is included
- Account, wage and income, and return transcripts requested and reviewed
- A record of account transcript pulled where a case needs the combined view
- A year-by-year summary of filed returns, assessments, and open balances
- Accrued penalty and interest identified separately from the original tax
- Verification of non-filing confirmation for any year suspected as unfiled
- Collection statute expiration dates calculated for each open tax year
- A written summary handed to you and to our enrolled agent or CPA partner
The process
- 1.
Sign the authorization
You sign a Form 2848 authorizing our enrolled agent or CPA partner to request your transcripts, consistent with Circular 230.
- 2.
Pull the transcripts
Account, wage and income, return, and where useful, record of account transcripts are requested through the IRS Transcript Delivery System.
- 3.
Read every line
We go through each transcript in full, not just the balance line, to separate original tax from accrued penalty and interest and to catch any year showing as unfiled.
- 4.
Calculate the deadlines
We compute the collection statute expiration date for each open year based on its actual assessment date, since the clock runs separately per year.
- 5.
Deliver the summary
A year-by-year written summary goes to you and to our credentialed partner, built to drive the next step in the case immediately.

Pricing
Transcript analysis is typically the opening line item of a larger resolution engagement rather than a flat standalone fee, since scope depends on the number of years and transcript types a case needs. See the published rate card at /us/pricing for our standing tiers and add-ons; a single-year pull costs far less than a multi-year, multi-transcript-type analysis feeding into an installment agreement. Any fee for our enrolled agent or CPA partner's direct representation is set and billed separately by that partner.
