Unfiled back-tax return preparation

Unfiled back-tax return preparation from Finbryn rebuilds prior-year US returns from bank records, IRS transcripts and whatever documentation exists, filed oldest year first so each year's closing figures support the next. A credentialed preparer signs and files every return, and any IRS representation runs through our enrolled agent or CPA partner under Form 2848.

What is included

  • Missing years identified from IRS transcripts, oldest first
  • Any existing substitute-for-return assessments compared against what was actually owed
  • Returns reconstructed from bank statements, transcripts, and available records
  • A filing order set so each year's numbers correctly support the next
  • Completed returns reviewed, signed, and filed by a credentialed preparer
  • Representation through our enrolled agent or CPA partner under a Form 2848 where the filing needs it
  • A clear summary of the true balance owed once all years are filed

The process

  1. 1.

    Confirm the missing years

We pull IRS transcripts to establish exactly which years are unfiled and whether any already carry a substitute for return.

  2. 2.

    Gather what exists

We collect bank and card statements, transcripts, and any surviving payroll or invoice records, starting with whatever's available rather than waiting for a complete set.

  3. 3.

    Rebuild oldest year first

Each year is reconstructed in chronological order so its closing figures correctly become the next year's opening position.

  4. 4.

    Compare against any substitute return

Where the IRS already assessed a substitute for return, we compare our reconstruction line by line to identify deductions and the correct filing status the original assessment missed.

  5. 5.

    Review, sign, and file

A credentialed preparer reviews and signs each completed return before filing; our enrolled agent or CPA partner handles any direct negotiation the filing requires.

Pricing

Reconstruction is priced by the number of years and the state of the underlying records, not a flat per-return rate, since a year with complete bank statements takes far less work than one with fragmented records. See the published rate card at /us/pricing for our standing tiers and add-ons; multi-year work is scoped after the transcript pull confirms the actual number of years and their condition. Any fee for our enrolled agent or CPA partner's direct representation on the filing is set and billed separately by that partner.
